PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY!

posted Oct 27, 2011 12:00 PM by The Ink Blot Arts

Hey Ink Blotters!

Great news! This weekend, Ink Blot Arts will be having auditions for a staged reading of one of the great classical Sanskrit plays: The Toy Cart or Mrcchakatika.

AUDITION INFORMATION:

There is no need to prepare any audition pieces. The audition will consist of a simple cold reading. Call backs are a tentative.

We will be holding auditions in the PAC on Friday from 1-4pm, and Saturday from 12-4pm. If there will be a call back, is will most likely occur on Tuesday after the General Meeting at 5pm.

Go to the Green Room to see where we will be meeting.

If you are unable to make these auditions and are still interested in being cast, please contact IBA by emailing us and letting us know the soonest you can audition. We are more than happy to try and accommodate your schedule if you are interested in this show!

Don't sweat it if you can't stick around for the whole four hours. Any amount of time you can show up for is great!

REHEARSAL & PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE:

There will be two rehearsals held over the next four weeks.

While our performance dates aren't solid yet, we are shooting for either Monday 5 or Wednesday 7 of December.

ABOUT THE PLAY:

"The Toy Cart" by King Shudraka, translated by P. Lal.

"Rife with romance, sex, court intrigue and comedy, the plot of the play has numerous twists and turns. The main story is about a young man named Charudatta and his love for Vasantasena, a rich courtesan. The love affair is complicated by a royal courtier, who is also attracted to Vasantasena. The plot is further complicated by thieves and mistaken identities, thus making it a hilarious and entertaining play."  -Wikipedia

Also, the play "Spectacular Spectacular" that was portrayed in the film Moulin Rouge! may have been based on The Little Clay Cart!

These student directed readings are always a great hit, and one of Ink Blot Arts' favorite things to put on, so please come out and audition!

No Violet Beauregardes were harmed in the making of this meeting...

Every year the North State Symphony (yes, that organization that Kellogg works for) hosts an event called the Mozart Mile where people run around Bidwell Park while people play music, read poetry, etc.

We have the opportunity of being able to have you perform during this event. For more information, feel free to contact us!

Luckily, your IBA Board is doing just that. In the next week or two we will have drafted, scrutinized, and voted on a completely revised and reorganized Constitution which will hopefully correct many of IBA's current potholes and allow for more Member involvement, control, and leadership.

STAY TUNED!!!

We are gradually, yet quickly, completely revamping the IBA site. As you can see, it is no longer the same drab look of the past 3 years.

As we update more areas and clean things up, please feel free to send us comments and suggestions about what you may like to see here!
